Aura Ambient Floor Lamp App Setup Guide

Overview

This guide will walk you through connecting your Aura Ambient Floor Lamp to the Aura Labs app. Once setup is complete, you’ll be able to control your lamp, customize scenes, create groups, and access the latest firmware updates.

Before You Begin

Make sure:

• Your Aura Ambient Floor Lamp is fully assembled.
• The lamp is plugged in and powered on.
• Your phone is nearby.
• You have downloaded the Aura Labs app.
• Your Wi-Fi name and password are available.

When the floor lamp is in setup mode, it will flash blue. If it has been more than 2 minutes since you plugged in the floor lamp, unplug it and plug it back in to get it in setup mode. 

How to Set Up Your Aura Ambient Floor Lamp

Assuming you have already downloaded and created an account with Aura Labs app, please follow the steps below to setup your Aura Floor Lamp. 

1. Tap the + button.
   You may see the + button in the top-right corner of the app. If this is your first Aura device, you may also see it in the middle of the app screen.
   
2. Tap Add Device.
   
   
3. Wait for the app to detect your Aura Ambient Floor Lamp.
   The lamp should appear automatically if it is in setup mode.
   Note: If it has been more than 2 minutes and 30 seconds since you plugged in the lamp, it may no longer be in setup mode. Press and hold the side button on the controller for 10 seconds to enter setup mode again or unplug and plug back in. The lamp will flash blue when setup mode is active.
   
   
4. Select your Aura Ambient Floor Lamp in the app.
   
   
5. Choose your Wi-Fi network.
   
   
6. Enter your Wi-Fi password.
   If your Wi-Fi network does not appear in the list, tap "Other…" and enter your Wi-Fi name exactly as it appears in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings. Then enter your Wi-Fi password. Remember Wi-Fi name and password are case sensitive. If your Wi-Fi name is MyHomeWiFi, your devices will not recognize it if you type myhomewifi. You must match the exact capitalization, spacing, and special characters exactly as they were set up on your router.
   
   
7. Wait while the lamp connects to the cloud.
   This may take a moment. Keep the app open and your phone close to the lamp during this step.
   
   
8. Once the lamp name appears in the app, setup is complete.
   
   
9. Before using your lamp, update to the latest firmware.

Firmware updates are required for you device to work as expected. If your device is having any issues, check to make sure you are on the latest firmware. 

Android Setup Note

If you are using an Android device and your phone prompts you to connect through Bluetooth, do not pair the lamp through your phone’s Bluetooth settings. Continue setup through the Aura Labs app instead.

Expected Result

After setup is complete, your Aura Ambient Floor Lamp should appear in the Aura Labs app. You can now control the lamp, change colors, select scenes, and update the firmware.

Troubleshooting

The app does not detect my lamp
Make sure the lamp is powered on and flashing blue. If it is not flashing blue, press and hold the side button on the controller for 10 seconds to enter setup mode again.

My Wi-Fi network does not appear on the Wi-Fi list
If your Wi-Fi network name does not show up in the Wi-Fi list, tap "Other…" and manually enter your Wi-Fi name exactly as it appears in your phone’s Wi-Fi settings.

Remember Wi-Fi name and password are case sensitive. If your Wi-Fi name is MyHomeWiFi, your devices will not recognize it if you type myhomewifi. You must match the exact capitalization, spacing, and special characters exactly as they were set up on your router.

The lamp does not finish setup
Keep your phone close to the lamp, make sure your Wi-Fi password is correct, and if setup fails, go through the setup process again. Sometimes Wi-Fi connection may cause the device to not connect the first time.

I see a Bluetooth prompt on Android
Do not pair the lamp using Bluetooth. It will not work. You must setup your device with Wi-Fi first. After setup, if your Wi-Fi is offline, you will still be able to control the device through bluetooth.
